Wi-Fi repeatedly resets and drops connection
Wi-Fi module resets and known networks disappear temporarily on macOS Tahoe 26.1
Since updating to macOS 15 / 26.1 (Tahoe), my Mac repeatedly resets the Wi-Fi subsystem.
Every few minutes, in System Settings → Wi-Fi, all known networks disappear for about 5–10 seconds and then reappear.
During this period, the Wi-Fi connection drops, reconnects automatically, and browsers often report ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED.
This happens:
- even with VPN completely disabled
- with “Private Wi-Fi Address” turned off
- after deleting all network configuration .plist files
- after resetting Wi-Fi settings and removing all preferred networks
From what I can see, it looks like the Wi-Fi stack (possibly WifiDriverKit or WirelessRadioManagerd) is restarting itself in macOS Tahoe 26.1.
Expected behavior:
Wi-Fi should stay connected and should not lose its network list or reinitialize during normal use.
What I’m looking for:
- Is there a way to stop macOS from constantly scanning for new networks and force it to stay connected to the selected network?
- Any deeper reset steps or hidden configuration options that could fix this?
- Is this a known issue in macOS 26.1?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
