Tahoe 26.1 Freezes, Slows, Always Loading - MacBook Pro M4 Pro
My MacBook Pro M4 Pro is incredibly slow, constantly freezing, constantly loading (mouse pointer loading), and I can't do simple tasks like saving a file.
Not to mention Adobe software is almost unusable (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign are constantly loading).
Even on the system, everything I click loads slowly.
A MacBook Pro M4 Pro is unusable for work... Has anyone found a solution to this slowdown?
It is not clear if the macOS 26.0 preformed as expected after the upgrade(?) or it was the point update 26.1 that caused the issued(?) or you upgraded direct to 26.1 bypassing the others...
what was the previous macOS before you updated or upgraded—you do not say for some big picture in trying to understand your issue.
unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing
Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus
all known to cause issues on the macOS
To trouble shoot further you can:
—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies
Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.
Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.
This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.
—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support
This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.
if no insight or resolve—
you can reinstall the macOS on top of the existing macOS to sort anomalies with the upgrade process, and compare your results:
