Apple is offering gift card with Macbook purchase. Had I known this, I would have waited until the 28th to buy it.
Do I have to return the Macbook? Or will they just make it easy for all of us and let me get the gift card after the 28th? I will happily return this and repurchase for a $250 gift card. I have zero issue doing that.
If you bought directly from Apple, either in an Apple retail store or from their web store, their published policy is that you have 14 calendar days to return a device for a no-questions-asked refund. During the holidays it is longer. See the reference I linked below.
That does NOT apply if you bought from a reseller, even an Apple-authorized reseller. The seller's return policy applies in that case

We are volunteers here answering technical questions. We cannot tell you what actions Apple may or may not take. Visit an Apple Store when the time is right and check.
Note that the promotion is for a gift card of "up to $250." It looks like unless the MacBook in question is a new 14" or 16" MacBook Pro with a M4 Pro chip or a M4 Max chip, the promotion is for less than that.
