iPhone Bluetooth audio disconnects with iOS26

Ever since upgrading to iOS26 and later on my iPhone 12 pro, my Bluetooth audio (AirPods and Beats) has become unusable.

As soon as the phone's screen goes to sleep, the audio becomes static-y and eventually disconnects altogether. The audio reconnects if I turn the screen back on. However, the issue returns as soon as the screen goes dark again. This effectively makes listening to audio on the phone impossible. Bluetooth audio works fine on iPad OS26 and Mac Tahoe26.1. No VPN installed on my phone.

I've tried suggested disconnecting, unpairing, rebooting, but nothing works. Anybody have other suggestions?
