Issue with sound after trying Hearing Assistant Function

Has anyone had issues with the sound of their Airpods after trying and then turning off the hearing assistant function? I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and Airpod Pro 2nd Gen. I turned on the hearing assist function just to see what it was like, didn't care for it, and turned it back off, but the sound didn't revert to how it was prior to my turning it on. Everything (music, podcasts) sounds muddled and not as bright, and I'm having to the turn the volume up in order to be able to hear everything at the same volume prior to turning it on. Even the ANC doesn't appear to be working as well. It's driving me crazy! If I had known I couldn't revert to how everything sounded before by simply turning it off, I wouldn't have ever tried it. I do not want to have to reset my iPhone, so if anyone knows of and can share some other fix, I'd appreciate it!

P.S.: I have not updated to IOS 26.1 (currently on 18.7.2).

If you have a hearing or sound issue on your device then please try some of these processes to set it right

  1. If you have a distorted sound issue on your iPhone --> If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad
  2. If you are not able to hear the other person, click this...>If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound isn't ...
  3. If you only hear through speakerphone mode --> If your iPhone is stuck in headphone mode - Apple Support
  4. If the other person is not able to listen to you then please click this to identify the issue --> If the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch aren't ...

If the above options do not mitigate the issues then Contact your carrier and then Contact Apple Support
