iPhone unexpectedly sent a message while charging

How did my phone compose and send a message when it was on its charger? It said, “I am on my way.” I am running iOS 26.1.

Turn Off Auto-Reply:

See if there is an auto-reply set up for iMessage. You may have does so on another device in your Apple Account, and it is syncing to this device. Auto-replies are messages sent to selected contacts when you are unavailable.

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Focus
  3. Toggle Off: Share Across Devices

"iPhone unexpectedly sent a message while charging: I made those changes and also which apps have access to my messages. Fingers crossed that fixes it. My worst fear is that my device has been intercepted by bad actors and is acting on my behalf."

👍Excellent job troubleshooting this!

Tapped Messages:

No one is going to tap in to your phone calls and messages --not without a licensed warrant, in the very least.

I. Is this Jailbroken?

So, who is the seller of this iPhone? If it is Apple, then no worries there. If it is not Apple, then you might want to think about getting a new phone, as it may have been hacked into, and configured unknowingly.

II. Turning Off iMessages:

Another thing to consider is to turn off Messages in your other devices' iCloud settings. If it is enabled, then it that is how it may have been sent through --and it would only occur if someone has accesses to that device.

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: your name (top item)
  3. Tap: iCloud
  4. Tap: See All >
  5. Toggle Off: Use on this iPhone

III. Secure your Info:

If device access and/or account access have become of high-concern here. So, (A)Verify your Devices, and then (B.) Modify your Credentials:

A. Verify your Devices:

Verify that all devices are logged in to your account, by using this link: Check your Apple ID Device List to See where you're Signed in - Apple Support

then...

B. Modify your Credentials:

Having been stollen, someone lily has your credentials. So, by all means, modifying them.
