Date of when photos were downloaded is now almost invisible!

So I downloaded Tahoe 26.2 the other day and I hate it with a passion. That stupid tropical water scene is amateurish, but no matter, I only see it once before logging on and my own wallpaper fills the screen.

But here's an important thing that's driving me mad: I scroll through my thousands of B & W Photos almost daily looking for negs I want to post on IG. But now the date the photo was loaded is nearly impossible to see. It's in the upper left corner, very small size and light gray! What were they thinking?! It's nearly as annoying as when they eliminated Retouch from photo editing. Is there a way to create a LARGER, more visible date?

Perhaps a screenshot would help illustrate your problem.

Personally, I never see the date overlaid on a photo in the Photos app. In any view, I can use Get Info to see a date:

In Month view, the day is easily visible (though only a key photo is shown in that view):

In an album, again no date on the images:

All of that leads me to suspect you have a 3rd party app/extension that is showing the date on your images in the Photos app. I see frequent reference to PowerPhotos being used for that, for example:

If you are using a 3rd party app/plugin/extension with Photos, contact the developer of that app regarding the issue, it is the 3rd party developer's responsibility to ensure compatibility with macOS upgrades/updates, not Apple's.

That helps, thanks. I see what you mean in the Utilities > Imports display:

The above is Light theme (System Settings > Appearance), IMO it's a little better in Dark (which is my usual setting):

Changing System Settings > Accessibility > Display to Increase Contrast and setting the display contrast slider to maximum helps the most (but I'm not a fan of that, personally).

As lkrupp suggested in the first reply to your post, submit feedback to Apple, only they can change that. Here's the direct link for Photos feedback:

Having said that, you might consider the PowerPhotos app as an alternative, since that seemingly can show the dates right on the thumbnails.
