Bought a brand-new iPhone 15 in Germany, but it was produced for the Indian market – how does warranty work?
Hey everyone,
I’ve run into a bit of an issue and could use some advice.
Three days ago I bought a brand-new, sealed iPhone 15 as a gift for a family member from a German retailer called smartphoneonly. I didn’t look closely enough at the shop’s reviews, and apparently the iPhones they sell are sourced from India or other non-EU markets. The device is “differentiated taxed” and I can’t cancel the order anymore.
From what I’ve read so far, the hardware itself should be identical to the EU version, so that part doesn’t worry me. My main question is:
How does the warranty work in this situation?
If the phone breaks in Germany, can I take it to Apple here and get it serviced under the regular Apple warranty, or will they refuse it because it was originally intended for the Indian market?
Any experiences or information would be super helpful. Thanks!
