MacBook Air shutdown and loses some settings

So recently my MacBook Air has been shutting down at 12-5% battery for no reason without low battery warning or me pressing anything. It will only turn back on when plugged in. When I turn it back on, the audio settings change and date changes until properly loaded back up. Sure, I can easily go and change the settings back but I have no idea why this is happening. It's like it does a PRAM reset by itself because it's only a few settings like audio and timezone that are affected. Does anyone know why this happens because it only occurs at low battery percentages but not all the time when it at low battery.

Do you think it's because I need to service my battery as I have had my MacBook for about 2 years without changing the battery and in system report it does recommend I service the battery. When I had an iPhone 5c years ago, the battery was dying and often shut down at odd ball percentages so maybe it's battery issues with my Mac.

Hi Xeronsia,

It sounds like you're having some issues with battery life on your Mac and I want to help.

If your Mac is reporting the battery needs service, that could definitely be a cause for the issues you're having.
