The keyboard is in the middle of the screen and I can’t even see what I am typing

The keyboard comes up in the middle of the screen and I can’t even see where or what I am typing! This is on my new iPad 7th generation

Tap and hold the little keyboard icon at the bottom right corner, then slide your finger up to select Dock.
