ios 13.3 breaks sound on 1st gen ipad pro?

I have a first gen ipad pro 12.9, I had it since the initial release and never once had a problem with the sound. Upgraded to 13.3 last week and instantly the sound via the speakers has stopped working, minutes before the upgrade i was watching youtube videos without issue. I have tried everything including doing DFU and reloading 13.3 and setting up the ipad from scratch and still no sound. Installed beta 13.3.1 also no sound via the speakers.

Sound works through headphones (no its not stuck in headphone mode) or via casting to whatever device via bluetooth / wifi etc without a problem.

of course its impossible to downgrade to 13.2 but I will bet money if i could that would fix the issue

anyone else have this?
