Trouble connecting Airpods to Apple ID

My boyfriend recently updated to the Airpod Pro’s and gave me his old airpods. I have tried holding the button down on the back and resetting them, but I am unable to connect them to my apple ID in order to get them into “Find My”. Can someone guide me?

My AirPods say they are connected to another Apple ID i have purchased a airpods pro 2 and i have tested it on my friend's iphone. But when i try to connected them to mine it said that this airpods are not mine and the are connect to another apple id. From FindMy we have remove the airpods, but they still says that they are connected to another apple id. What can i do to fix this issue? Led indicator on airpods' case is with red light.
