Presently, Microsoft requires macOS HIgh Sierra (10.13) or later for installation of MS Office, whether Office 365 or Office 2019 for Mac. Microsoft follows Apple's three-year sliding support window, so when Apple releases macOS 10.16 in Fall 2020, Microsoft will then require Mojave (10.14) for Office installation.
A version of Pages for El Capitan can only be downloaded if it is in your Purchased History. Otherwise you can upgrade the operating system to Mojave.
Upgrades have been free for years. You need to check whether your iMac is compatible:
