Syncing my old iPhone to download music from mi iMac

I’m have an iPhone 7 which I am using just for music in place of my old iPod classic. I have just loaded some cd’s onto my iMac to get them loaded onto my iPhone. For some reason my phone won’t now sync with my iMac, which it has done automatically previously. How do I get round this?
