My Macbook Pro Retina mid-2012 does not show the battery health tab after the macOS Catalina 10.15.5 update. Is this feature not supported on older MacBooks? That would be sad, as I think we would need this feature most! My MacBook sits at full charge quite a bit during video conference calls, which makes the whole system quite warm. Am I missing something?

I believe you need at least a 2016 MacBook Pro, apparently new hardware technology is needed. Not available on my 2015 Apple laptops either. Apple should state which models work with this feature, their support page for this feature doesn't mention models

That's sad! I was really exited to finally get some support to not charge to 100%. Guess I'll have to pull out the tape again, lol. You can tape the middle pin on the MagSafe adapter and it'll stop charging but still power the laptop. Silly trick, but it works.

Yes, I do that so the battery won't charge to full when I know I'll have it plugged in for a long time. Taping the middle pin prevents the MacBook from identifying the adapter, which apple decided to make it not charge the battery. It'll show as not charging, but still run off the adapter.
