Charging AirPod pro

Is it possible to use iPhone’s lightning to USB cable for charging AirPod pro case? It doesn’t damage the AirPod battery?

Just got Airpod Pro. It did not come with a charge block to plug into outlet. Can I use the apple cord from my Apple Iphone 8 which has a standard USB port for plug in to charging block to charge my new airpod pros. I do not have a new charging block with the USB-C or 3 plug in.
