How did you cancel exactly?
Are you sure the charge is for the Music subscription? Check your active subscriptions by following the steps here: See or cancel your subscriptions - Apple Support
If it is correctly cancelled, contact iTunes Support: https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
No. You never own that music, regardless of how long you pay. You are just granted access while your subscription is active.
You can only access the subscription while you pay for it. Once you discontinue the Apple Music subscription, then you will lose access to the music you may have downloaded from there.
Yes, you don't own that music so you will lose access to it when you cancel your subscription.
One last question and I know I am being silly - so if I keep the subscription for at least one or two months (paying) then I own it is that correct
I cancelled my free subscription in April, but they keep charging me How do I go about getting a refund
