Right Airpod Works Momentarily Then Has a Loud Pop and Stops Working

I bought Gen 2 Airpods about a month and a half ago. About 2 weeks ago my right airpod suddenly made a loud *pop* and stopped working. I tried all of the advice online about restarting, making sure it's charged, putting in the case when this happens. I do not believe this is a connectivity issue. After awhile the airpod will start to work again, but only momentarily until it pops again.

I took the airpods into an officially licensed repair store that I found using apple's actual service. When I went in to the shop they tested it and basically told me what I already used. Although they wouldn't replace it. They basically told me to just keep using it. I think they thought it was a connectivity issue. I'm convinced it's not a simple connectivity issue.

What can I do about this issue? How can I just get my right airpod replaced? I'd like to be able to use both right and left airpods again.

Thank you!
