Is there a way to claim free AirPods if I bought an iPad?

Dear Sir/madam 

I am student and I have bought my iPad on 19th May with student discount. In that moment there was no opportunity to get AirPod for free, can I ask kindly to have one as I did not know this promotion is going to be the next promotion? That is very nice of you.
