It is a scam. Apple doesn't make unsolicited phone calls. If there was a problem you would be notified when attempting to log in, including when logging into this forum. Also see: Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support

One option to consider is Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers. See: Detect and block spam phone calls - Apple Support

I just got an automated phone call on our house number. When I picked up the phone the recording stated that someone made several attempts to sign into my account. As it happened, I was on my IPad and got in into my email without any problem the first time. I think this was a bogus phone call, as this LAN line does not have my name on it or any relation to me. This I believe was phishing attempt. I wish people would stop this kind of nonsense and quit bothering people.

That is what I thought. I have just moved into my new home in Nevada after leaving California. This guy calls me last Saturday and seemed to be very convincing. But, the weird thing is that only 2 people have my new LAN line. He called on my LAN line and I should have known that something was up because of that. He said there were 7 suspected hackers on my IPad and that I should download some ridiculous app and he could help me. He wanted me to give him my Debit card number so he could verify my account and that he was from Apple and wanted to help me.

I told him that Apple has NEVER called me and that they don’t call people.

THIS IS A BIG SCAM FROM THESE JERKS FROM OVERSEAS! DON’T FALL FOR IT. I DIDN’T!!

They certainly can be extremely annoying. About the best advice I could offer is to tell all your family, all your friends exactly what you have written above.

The calls are scams, the callers are criminals. They will continue to call while they can still find someone to steal from.
