Unsuccessful at syncing my iPhone X to my MacBook Pro (macOS Catalina 10.15.6). iPhone X IOS 13.7.
When connected via USB the phone appears in the sidebar sporadically; meaning, it flashes on and off. There is never a chance to click on it and start a backup.
I have opened the Systems Window/USB and the iPhone does appear there.
Desperately need this solved and backup my phone and export photos.

Just finished call w Apple Support and screen sharing on MacBook. Was finally able to backup switching to a different lightening cable. Problem appears to be in my cable or port.

As step 4 states here, it’s time to Contact - Official Apple Support.

What did Apple Support tell you when you contacted them?
