New phone has husband's icloud address. I don't know his password so can't access the app store.

A few weeks ago, my iPhone developed a swollen battery. I replaced my phone with my husband's. Now his is failing so I got a new Iphone. the new phone thinks it belongs to my husband and the app store won't let me in because I don't know his password. What can I do?

Okay, so that’s a bit of a different question. Here’s how to get that Apple ID unlocked:

How to request access to a deceased family member's Apple accounts - Apple Support

The new iPhone is not coming in with an Apple ID.

That ID is added when the iPhone is first set up by you, and you provide the Apple ID and password to use.

If the dealer set up the iPhone and restored the backup— and I’m nit sure how, as that requires the password—then I’m not quite sure what’s going on. My guess is that just the cellular plan was transferred over. Not the data restored from a backup.

Request Support from Apple:

Seems it needs to be disassociated from his Apple Account. Apple Accounts cannot be merged. So, all of his applications will not work on yours. So, if you have your own Apple ID, and not his, then delete this apps from your iPhone. Hold down on an app on the screen, then click the "X".

For Note:

Why Calls are a Bit of a Wait:

Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due do lots of calls. And, that makes sense because with the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple Support. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

Thank you both for your suggestions. I guess I should start at the beginning. As you can tell I'm not terribly tech savvy.

Years ago, my husband and I bought identical iPhones. Unfortunately, he died recently. When my iPhone battery started to swell up and I lost everything I had saved on it, I transferred my phone number to his phone. I lost photos and such but I at least had a functioning phone with access to the Internet. Then last week, his phone (now mine) started to fail and I could tell it was not long for this world so I took it to my local "geniuses" who are licenced to service iPhones but no longer to sell the plan that I wanted and they couldn't fix the phone. So a couple of days ago I went to a dealer who would sell me both the plan I wanted and the new iPhone. I bought a brand new phone. However, that dealer transferred the information that had originally been on my husband's phone - not my original one. Now the brand new phone is coming up with my husband's name and iCloud i.d. Obviously, I can't ask him for his password and I can't find any record of it around. If I erase the phone, I'm back to square one. I've already lost all my photos and my email addresses and my app store account and Google and, and, and... I just spent two hours on a chat line with my carrier and my internet provider and they couldn't help. So I'm frustrated.

New phone has husband's icloud address. I don't know his password so can't access the app store.
