iOS 13.7 does not allow deletion of multiple iMessages. Is there a workaround?

I have an enormous number of messages and don't want to have to delete one at a time, then confirm the deletion, then pick another one and confirm etc.,etc.,etc. Is it not possible to delete several at a time? I can do this in mail but not in messages.

iPhone 7, iOS 13

Currently there is still no way to delete multiple messages at a time in the Messages app. You only have the option to either delete the entire conversation (which will also delete all your photos and video attachments with that person) or, as you already referenced in your question/post, you have the option to select and delete messages individually one at a time.
