thunderbolt 2

I have a late 2015 Imac, I think this Imac has a thunderbolt 2 connector.

I want to buy an external ssd Harddisk. some of them come with a regular usb connector and an usb c connector. Does this mean i can plug the usb c connector into my thunderbolt 2 on the Imac ?

Attach an external Sandisk SSD to a Mid 2011 27" iMac The SanDisk external SSD has a USB-C (USB 3.1 Gen2) port. I'm thinking I can use Apple's Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter to connect to the SSD then use Thunderbolt 2 cable to connect the iMac to Apples adapter. Will this work ? Attaching the SSD to the iMacs USB 2.0 port is too slow

The Late 2015 iMac supports USB 3.0 from the USB ports. Your best bet is to just get and use a USB 3.0 external hard drive.
