iPhone 12 OLED Screen Issue

Hello. I bought two iPhone 12 and both has the same issue. In dark surrounding on any brightness lower than 90-100% screen has this ugly glowing! Black pixels are not turning off in dynamic scenes. In static scene black pixels turning off after few seconds.

My video shows it in video and in clock app.

And this is comparison by another one person who have this problem but with iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone XS screen.

That’s not normal at all. I post it to support and they said I should wait more. That’s just great...

SO after getting two brand new iphone 12 pro max, after ordering Like 9 models , i can confirm all fot this weird LCD like screen in pitch black room on a blakc wallappaer in full screen in photos apps ( to reproduce the issue easily ) or even by jut booting each phones out of the box in my bathroom with no lights on , ( you see this grey flicker...

I got 2 12 pro max today starting with F2 week 51 of production, like most of the ones i got , it's way better than the last one i got starting with G0... the issue is still present but barely visible specialy on one model + no yellow tint...

So i send pics to apple, and they confirmed to me THAT THEY DO NOT READ THESE FORUMS... AT ALL...

if u cant this minor issue ( in their opinion and i agree ) to be fixed , you need to call them and spend 30 min or 1 hour max with tech support and explain them all of this.. issue is software cos it never happen with brigthness at 100% and when the phone boot at first, the screen is perfect , you see the apple logo and then the grey flicker comes for a few seconds, it means that so cores components that initialize when booting up like all the sensor in the notch must be causing a little software bug that most ppl do not see.

they do have enough reports of this specific issue.. if all the people here were to call them maybe they'll will really look into the issue.. i've send pictures to them, spent some time with them, and it's the only solution for a fix to be coming ASAP.

hope most of you will calll them . otherwise they may fix it when 13 is released..

Hello, can people who have no problems with their device please share their device information with us. Manufacturing KW and serial number?

My replacement device was manufactured in week 46 and will arrive tomorrow. I will report.

I can't tell you what the behavior of devices from Shanghai is like. I don't have a device from there myself. But if you say it has the green tint it is probably the same problem as with the other devices. I would exchange or return it.

Maybe at some point you will be lucky and get a better device

Hey, I don't know how often you can change your device. apple tries to talk its way out of this and has asked its technicians not to exchange the devices. I think it all depends on the support employee. I received my 3rd replacement device yesterday. Made in week 46 and the fault is still there. The green tint is slightly less, but the display still flickers when the display is black and the brightness is low.

The 4th device has a G9P panel like the 3 devices in front of it, I was hoping for a better display. :( The panel can be read out under Windows with the 3U tool.

The yellow/brownish tint and reduced contrast are not as bad with True Tone turned off. But, it is still noticeable compared to iPhone X/XS. Unfortunately, personnel in our local Apple store is not very knowledgeable. They “didn’t have time” to run a test. So, I returned the whole unit. I’ll wait until problems are solved. No need to settle for a workaround with a >$1k phone!

I have the same issue. This is my 2nd iPhone 12 Pro, the first one was returned because of another flaw that these models are exhibiting with the yellow tint. The replacement, received on 11/6, also has the yellow tint albeit marginally better however the raised black levels are pretty noticeable especially in a dark room. Both units were manufactured in week 40 production. This is unfortunate and I really can’t deal with repeated returns now as the original was purchased through T-Mobile online.

Interesting, with your 12 pro, does the green tint occur when you “use” the device, and what I mean by that is, does it only occur when you begin objects on the screen begin to move?

I have noticed with the 12 pro max, I’ve noticed that the green tint issue only occurs when there is movement on the screen, and if the picture is stagnant for a while, the blacks will return to normal with the pixels being off, therefore could be and issue with the touch interface.

Still thinking it may be a oled smearing or smudge prevention software technique that it’s glitching or incorrectly coded but now I have found the peak brightness of my display is jumping above the max allowed slider brightness and also the colour temperature of the screen by default is quite warm, had to apply a colour filter to correct this so there could be a definite issue with the display and sensors
