I want to connect my MACbook pro to a monitor which accepts input as HDMI. The appropriate output port on the MACbook seems to be the Thunderbolt (marked with a lightning bolt of course). So I need a suitable adapter cable for Thunderbolt to HDMI. There are several products available but confusingly they talk about MiniDisplay. Is that the same as my Thunderbolt port or do I need a different adapter?

Many thanks

Paul

Identify the ports on your Mac - Apple Support

Note: "Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 are not the same as Mini DisplayPort. They have the same shape, but use different symbols on the cable and port. However, this port does support Mini DisplayPort for video output, so you can use a Mini DisplayPort cable to connect a Mini DisplayPort display."
