I have an older iMac running macOS Sierra v10.12.6 and I want to upgrade it as far as possible at least to v10.13. Every download I attempt to install keeps telling me I need a different version. What exact steps, including links to each upgrade if possible, are required to perform the desired upgrade?

For any confused by the iMac27", macOS 11.0, I was not able to enter an old enough system, so finally just entered my current system so I could at least ask my question.
