HomePod mini connection issues

I have a smart light switch set up to use shortcuts on my iPhone. When I ask my HomePod mini to use the shortcut, it says “I am having problems with the connection, please try again later”. About a half hour later, I asked the same thing again, and it says, “Still having problems with the connection, please try again later”. Sometimes when I do it, it works, but most of the time it doesn’t and it is generally in the evening. What do I do to fix this?

  • Reboot your wifi modem
  • Restart HomePod

Restart HomePod from the Home App: 

Open the Home App - go to the Room it’s in 

Deep press on the HomePod icon to bring up settings, scroll down to the gear icon, tap that, scroll to the bottom to Reset HomePod - then select Restart HomePod
