5G in different countries

Different countries use different frequencies and versions of 5G.

In the US Verizon uses what is called millimeter wave to provide some 5G coverage.

They are the only ones using this technology, as it has very limited range.

The US version of the iPhone has a specific antenna to connect to this.

iPhones outside of the US don't have this antenna because no one uses it.

The lack of or presence of the millimeter wave antenna does not affect your ability to use 5G outside of the US.

What is called low and mid band.

Low band is similar to 4g in frequencies and range.

Mid band uses microwave and covers miles.

Because of the area that can be covered by these technologies and the use of existing cell towers, every cellular provider including Verizon uses them.

The MM wave antenna will only work in the US.
