Why is it taking over 12 hours to update my watch?

I’ve been trying to update my Apple Watch series 3 since 7:00 last night and it’s almost 9:00 am now. It’s just stuck on “preparing” for hours. Do I need to do anything?

Apple Watch Series 3 gets stuck during set up I bought a secondhand Apple Watch series 3. I am trying to set it up but I keep getting stuck on the watch update part. I am connected to Wi-Fi and my watch is on the charger but it says it will take hours to update then it just pauses and will not let me select the continue button. My Apple Watch won’t update I’ve done everything I could to update my watch to the last update and just not working. It’s the 2nd series- what do you guys suggest? I’ve also reset the watch and nothing.

Nope, depending on your Internet speed the wait time will differ.

If you have a weak internet connection it’s normal for it to take a while.
