I noticed that when you rearrange icons in the dock, they become pinned. How can I stop this from happening?

I really like my dock to be very minimal and clean, I only have 2-3 apps pinned there and the rest I don't like to persist when closed. However, when I am working I like my apps to be in a specific order so they are easy to get to. I noticed that when you rearrange apps in the dock, they automatically become pinned. So I'm either forced to constantly unpin them after I close them, or to not move my apps around. Is it possible to disable the auto-pin upon rearranging the order of apps? Thank you!

Hey, that is not the problem. My problem is not quitting the application. I know perfectly well how to quit an application. My problem is that when I rearrange apps, the 'Keep in Dock' becomes checked. When I quit (black dot gone), they stay in my bar because 'Keep in Dock' is checked. Please re-read my post, or look at the video I posted.

I appreciate the help but this is not what I'm looking for.

Hey Old Toad,

Thanks for the response! However, this is not the issue. It's a feature, and there's no way to turn it off. It doesn't have to do with recent applications. The video I linked in a previous response shows the exact thing I'm trying to fix. This happens on all macs, not just my own. I believe the only way to override this is with some snippet of terminal code or an app of some sort. Just looking for some genius to come along and provide a fix for me!
