iPhone texts not going through to Android

I have one contact that only receives my texts on his iPad but not on his android cell phone. How can I get my phone to send him a text and not an IMessage?

What if you type their number directly into the box?

Delete the email from their contact (write it down first!) and try again.

Maybe delete the contact and add it back.

Is your phone able to phone out, ie you are in range of a mast?

There is no obvious reason for this if your SIM and their SIM allows SMS in the plan.

His mobile number is in my contacts, but when I try to text him, it first chooses his email address and I have to click on the down arrow to change to his phone number. But it will still only send as an IMessage.

I discovered the problem! In his contact information, I saw that there were two other of his contacts info linked to that contact card. One of them was his ICloud information. I deleted that link and it worked!!
