Why did my iMac restart long after an auto update

Last PM an auto update to Big Sur occurred. Computer fine this morning. After I had been working a while (perhaps 15 minutes) the computer restarted while I was working. It gave the 1 minute warning but no option to delay. Why?

iMac keeps restarting after going to sleep after Big Sur update Not sure what the issue is. Every time I login it says the iMac restarted because of a problem. iMac 5K, late 2015

Big Sur problems Since installing big sur my iMac sometimes restarts itself and also every time I start up my computer it tells me that it had shout down due to a fault and asks if I want a report. I did not have any of these problems before installing big sur.

There might have been an Alert from Upper Right of desktop which flashed by too fast to have noticed. At least that is what happened to me. Though, I was watching it the whole time and did notice it and chose delay.
