SYNCING

I have assorted Apple devices (iPhone, iPads, Macbook Pros, iCloud, iMacs, Macmini). I know NOTHING about SYNCING. How do I determine whether any of these devices are SYNCed with other devices? I want to see each device act freely and independently from each other device.

MacBook Pro, OS X 10.11

iCloud is not a device.
They don't sync unless you sync them using Finder/iTunes
If you want each as an independent device then please use separate Apple IDs. But this is going to be really troublesome for you remembering all Apple IDs and their respective password and managing iCloud. Probably you will be lost at some point of time.
It is easier to use One Apple ID on all devices if all of them belong to you.
