changing region and retaining icloud data

I want to change my country region but need to know if 1) Do I have to cancel my storage plan first, 2) how to I sign up again and retrieve my data

Read how to "Change your Apple ID country or region" click here --> https://support.apple.com/HT201389


It says you have to cancel any subscriptions which would mean iCloud upgrades too. "After you update your Apple ID billing address and payment method, you can upgrade your iCloud Storage using the pricing in your new country or region. Learn more about iCloud storage." It isn't clear if the data are held in a buffer until you can upgrade in the new country. if you want to play it safe, make sure they are stored on a computer too, then sign out of the old country and sign into the new, making upgrading iCloud a priority. Alternatively contact Apple and ask them (I'd be interested in knowing what they say):

If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.
