Freeing Up iCloud Storage Space

My iCloud drive is almost full. Most of the space is being taken up by messages. I'd like to free up some of that space without disabling iCloud for messages. I changed a setting on my phone so that instead of keeping messages forever it would delete them after a year. Does doing that sync up with iCloud to delete older messages there? If not, is there another way to do this without completely disabling iCloud for messages? iOS version is 14.4.2.

Hi jjkatz,

It sounds like you're needing to free up space in iCloud. If that's correct, check out this resource.

You may not notice your messages deleting immediately with your settings.

Cheers.
