Safari iCloud search history appearing on other devices despite being closed on original device

I opened several tabs on Safari (private mode off) on my iPad a week ago and I deleted the window, but the history still shows up on my iPhone. I’ve deleted the history in my settings but it didn’t remove it, and I’ve also tried swiping them away, but they reappeared the next day. Is there a way to remove these? Thanks

Can I delete them though? I just want to permanently delete those tabs but I do not want to turn iCloud history off. Is this possible or is it stuck on my device? Every time I swipe them away on my iPhone, they reappear after a few minutes. Is there anything I can do?

Hi there Clay723,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you forced your Safari app to close on your iPad, but you are still seeing those pages available through iCloud on your iPhone. That is expected behavior. Forcing Safari to close does not close your tabs or clear your history. Learn more about using iCloud Tabs here: Set up and use iCloud Tabs.

Apps should not be forced to close unless they are unresponsive. Learn more about forcing apps to close here: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch.

We hope this helps!

Hi there Clay723,

Thanks for reaching back out. iCloud Tabs show your open tabs on other devices. You would need to properly close the tabs on your iPad. "Quitting Safari, putting your device to sleep, or turning off your device doesn't remove a tab from the list." You can see how to close the tabs so they are not shown on other devices in the article we linked before. Here it is again: Set up and use iCloud Tabs.

We hope this helps!
