There is no iOS update for an iPhone 6 past iOS 12, and will not be.

IOS 12 (12.5.4, currently) is the end for iPhone 6.

Your iPhone 6 (2014) has half the memory of the oldest iPhone with support for current versions; of the iPhone 6s.

There are no hardware upgrades.

The only option here for newer iOS is to replace the iPhone with a newer or new iPhone.

Any recent iPhone will be substantially faster and substantially more capable than an iPhone 6, too.

If you do decide to replace, I would not suggest an iPhone with less than 32 GB, and preferably more, as 16 GB is already too tight for many existing iPhone users. This as you clearly keep your iPhone for a very long time, and as storage requirements will only increase as apps and iOS and data all grow.
