How can I transfer data from old phone with correct sim card to new iphone with wrong sim card?

Iphone 11 to iphone 12

Restore your backup of the old phone to the new phone -> Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support. The SIM card has nothing to do with it.

I am not tech literate. Following directions online to transfer info on 11 to 12.

it says to put correct sim card in new phone which means i have to take it out of old phone leaving no sim card in old phone. Is a sim card needed to transfer info?

I am not clear about your query. iPhone does not store any data on a physical SIM card.
