Search function in pages is not working

When will you fix the problem. Search doesn't work at all

We have a couple of ways to isolate the issue further.

Try also using Pages for a bit inside a new user account. Does Search work more consistently there? Here's how to make a new user: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac.

Okay, this worked, the suggestion below... Or alternately trashing the Pages app and re-downloading it off the Mac App Store was what worked.

I did both, and I have Search functions on docs where Search had stopped working.

Note: the problem is back three weeks later, and I'll have to do the above step again. Enough, looking into Nisus Writer today.

I copied and pasted my Pages doc content into a new Pages doc, and then Search worked. Of course that required reformatting the new doc, which is a pain, but it's the only way I could continue working on a 185K-word book in Pages. Happened two weeks ago, and now it's happening again with this document.

Mac OS 12.0.1 might be the problem. Mea culpa for trying the Public Beta on a machine used for actual work. Beta at Apple means Beta, no joke. I reported it earlier, and got out of Public Beta, and reverted to non-Beta default (I think. I hope.) but it's still happening.

Fastest 'fix' is to go to File>Duplicate, then work in the newly created doc. Search function will work with it.

(Until it doesn't, I guess.)

Have a fantastic day? Well your suggestion to try safe mode didn't work and having gone to that trouble I'm no closer to having my search function back. Any better suggestions?

have the same issue since updating to big sur couple of months ago. relaunching pages helps but it's a 'meh' solution imo

Relaunching Pages hasn't ever cleared the problem for me, so I'm still copy-pasting docs into new docs just to have Search function, which is even meh-er.
