if i add an apple pen when buting an ipad does it come in sanebox ir seperate

I am about to order an IPad for one daughter and then add a pen to the order for my other daughter. Does anyone know if they come in their own box each or is the pen in with the IPad. They are Christmas gifts so need to be separate.
