drag and drop issues in Monterey
I cannot drag and drop files in the Finder on my Mac Pro (desktop) since upgrading to Monterey 12.0.1. Anyone else having the same problem? Any solutions?

I was able to solve this problem with hints from the Interwebs: I opened System Preferences > Trackpad, and unchecked the box labeled "Force Click and haptic feedback." This solved my problem! Good luck.
I am also having this issue, and like the OP, it is any file to any folder - instead of dragging the individual file itself, it will simply highlight the adjacent files as well.
Recently I attempted to drag and drop a file into a tab in Chrome, but the file would not drag and drop successfully. I am using an external mouse to complete this action.
please ealborate:
what file?
what source directory?
what destination directory?
Any file to any folder; even ones I’ve just created. The only way I can get a file into any folder requires opening the file then using the Move to…. option.
For all who have recently posted - have you read the post by RobertPiston? That solved it for me.

Please provide the source and destination directories for an example that does NOT work.
If you have one on hand, consider trying this with a mouse. (Perhaps this is a trackpad anomaly, not a Finder issue at all).
Makes sense but I don’t have a trackpad, I have a desktop Mac.
Same issue with my trackpad on new Macbook Air now I am crippled In my ability to move files on my work computer. Thanks Apple! I thought this happened only to Microsoft users.
does an external mouse work?
I do not know it's a notebook I do not have a mouse
Actually, D&D DOES work with my magic mouse, but not with the trackpad. Bizarre!
Same here--the magic mouse works fine, but the trackpad cannot perform this D&D action.
Example: Using the trackpad(s) (both built-in and magic trackpad), I try and fail to D&D a document from the Downloads folder to the Desktop. It works fine with a magic mouse.

Just to confirm that I'm seeing the same issue with a new 14.1" MBP
