apple card question

When I activated my apple credit card, I received an email that said since I received an apple card, my icloud was not going to cost me to upgrade to the 200GB. Is that correct?

Not that I'm aware, no. iCloud+ send an email to users to let them know that they were upgraded from iCloud to iCloud+ for free. But, you still pay the same rate to rent the space (50, 200, 2TB), you just get additional benefits.
