External Hard Drive to ICloud

Hi,

Can someone tell me how to transfer data from an external hard dive to my ICloud account? In between there is MacPro. I would just like to avoid transferring first the whole data on my Mac before re-uploading it in my ICloud. This would mainly be as a pure backup function on top of having the data on my external drive.

Thank you in advance,

Alain

You can upload individual files at icloud.com/drive but you won't find that practical for many files, and folders cannot be uploaded. iCloud syncs with your Mac so your files will be downloaded onto the Mac from iCloud. It will be much easier to just copy over onto the Mac those items you wish to sync across your devices.
