Numbers extra column

I am unable to add a column to numbers - the command on the drop down menu is greyed out. Any ideas please?

Which menu?

Have you selected a cell or a column to activate the table and tell Numbers where the column is to be inserted?

Are the row and column reference tabs displayed?

Is the Table locked? A locked table will show an x at the corners of the selection border when selected.

An alternate method of inserting or adding a column to a Numbers table uses these steps:

To add a column to the left of an existing column:

Click on any cell in the existing column to select the cell.

Press option-left arrow.

These steps can also be used to insert or add a column to the right of, a row above, or a row below the selected cell by using the arrow key pointing toward the desired location of the new column or row.

The number of columns or rows added will match the number of cells selected in the direction the arrow key points.

Regards,

Barry
