Email moving to next unread

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like Mail keeps opening your next unread message. You can try some isolation and troubleshooting steps. Here are some resources that can help:

1. Restart your iPhone
2. If you have multiple email accounts, see if it's isolated to just one account.

• Close the Mail app. Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch
• Navigate to Settings > Mail > Accounts.
• Turn off Mail for every account but one.
• Open the Mail app and see if it continues.
• Do this for each account to see if it's a particular account doing this.

3. If it is not isolated to a specific account or you don't have more than one account, focus on the app and continue with If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open.

• Note, when you get to Step 4, Mail is a built-in app you can remove from your Home screen, Delete built-in Apple apps from the Home screen on your iOS 14 or iPadOS device or Apple Watch While removing the app does not remove your accounts, you do have to navigate back to Settings > Mail > Accounts and turn this feature back on after redownloading the app.
