Time Machine backups

How do I set up Time Machine to back up my start up disk AND to back up some folders on an external drive? It seems like Time Machine only wants to back up entire drives

Hi,

It is set up to include only whole drives. To get around that, set it to back up the whole drive but exclude what you don't want backed up (Options). To make this more manageable, you may want to organize the drive so everything you don't want backed up is in a single folder, then exclude that single folder in TM prefs > Options.
