Why Isn’t My Camera Genuine?

How do I get Apple to replace my 12ProMax camera for an unfixable issue?

I started getting the “Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple camera” message. Looking through the community site I can see it has been a known issue for at least a year.

It’s the original camera. This phone has never been anywhere for service.

It appears that the engineers haven’t been able to fix this through multiple firmware updates so the only logical conclusion is that the factory subbed in a different camera and now Cupertino can’t get it to work in the ecosystem.

How do I get this fixed?

It sounds highly likely that your iPhone was somehow damaged.
