I have an XR that I take pictures with all the time. Would like to take a selfie using the time how is that done?

What do you mean by "using the time"?

Do you want to use the auto timer for pictures. If so, tap on the up arrow at the topi of the screen to bring down the photo controls. Tap on the timer icon, select a time (3s or 10s) you wish to use, and then tap on the white shutter button. The timer will start and count down. Once it reaches 0 it will take the picture.
