iPhone 13 Pro Max battery drain while using airpods

My iPhone is brand new, I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks.

For regular use the battery is fine, but when I turn Bluetooth on to use AirPods it flies like Delorean in Back To The Future.

40 minutes of usage is enough to drain 50% of battery capacity.

I really would like to understand why.

krdoso,

Since this is only happening with your AirPods, let's continue to isolate the issue down. Which version of iOS is installed on your iPhone? Find the software version on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

If you have an update available, go ahead and create a backup and update your device following the steps here: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If you're device is already up to date or after updating it, try to turn off lossless audio and see if the issue contines.

Cheers!

Hello krdoso,

So we’re on the same page, can you tell us what you’re using your iPhone for while using your AirPods? We ask because if you’re streaming high-quality music over a poor cellular data connection, it would use more of your iPhone battery than listening to downloaded music. Also, can you tell us if this happens with a different Bluetooth device or just your AirPods?

Cheers!

I use only Apple Music, Lossless on a 4G connection. When I try on 5G is even worse, actually the 5G drains a lot of battery even without bluetooth one, but I understand it is a new technology with a lot of improvements to be yet developed.

It only happens with AirPods, I have a RCA H330C headphone and with that the battery doesn't drain that fast.

My AirPods are AirPods 3, bought last November, a few weeks after launching.
